Ben Esner
Esner is the director of K-12 STEM Education program at NYU-Poly. STEM works with elementary through
high school children. As director of STEM, Esner can provide insight on how to teach children about art
as well as possibly add art as a new component of STEM.
R. Luke DuBois
Artist and director of Brooklyn Experimental Media Center DuBois produced the Mariagny Parade in New Orleans.
Over 300 band members from local public schools performed at the parade. DuBois saw it first-hand, the issue of
children not having resources for their art education and his project could serve as an example.
Sawyer Mitchell
Artist who I attended Huntington School of Fine Arts and New York University with. She can lend her
knowledge and experience of being an artist who grew up home-schooled.
Corey Archangel
Archangel is a multimedia contemporary artist who uses computers and technology in his work.
He could help brainstorm ways to use technology to make art education accessible to all children.
Felix Gonzalez-Torres
Contemporary artist who used process art to create interactive artwork to communicate with the audience.
He would be able to come up with a nice idea for an interactive art exhibition that enables children to learn
about art through art.
Cheryl Trowbridge
Art teacher who runs TeachKidsArt. She is passionate about teaching art to children and has over 20 years of
experience teaching kids. I could collaborate with her to find how out to engage children in art education.
Joy Weiner
She is the museum director of education for the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington, New York. She runs the
ArtSense summer program for children. As someone who works both in a museum setting and with children, she has
plenty of knowledge about how children learn about contemporary art.
Linda Nathan
Author, speaker, and teacher who founded Boston Arts Academy. She has extensive experience teaching art to low-income
children, who are not as educated in art as children from high income families. Nathan can help bridge this gap.
Takashi Murakami
Murakami is a Japanese contemporary artist whose work, while inappropriate for children, is vivid and optimistic.
He can provide insight on art education in Japan, giving a foreign outlook and comparing how it is different from
the way art is taught to American children.
