004 - Your Idea

Card Sorting

Three Ideas

#1: Create a board game that uses a book rather than a traditional board or cards.

#2: Let's go fishing. The audience would have fishing rods and could cast it over a
wall and they would "catch" various objects. These could be fortunes, stuffed animals,
food, or even people.

#3: Tie the virtual into reality. This could be expressed in the form of a miniature art show.
Digital prints of things like "Are you sure you want to empty the recycle bin?" or error messages
find their way into the physical space. The audience is forced to think about how we perceive
ourselves in both the metaphysical and digital sense.

Inspiration

Crazy Plastic Ball Prank by Roman Atwood

This is a ridiculously fun interactive experience. The children are completely glee with anticipation
for when their mother arrives. Her surprised reaction was so worth it. The piece reinforces and strengthens
the family bond.

Untitled (Placebo) by Felix Gonzalez-Torres

The audience was allowed to pick up the wrapped candy on the floor and eat it. The piece serves as a kind
gesture from the artist to his audience. The gift of giving and open-mindedness is very thoughtful and special.

RedBall Project by Kurt Perschke

Public art, such as the RedBall Project, can captivate everyday people and add some spice into the mundane.
It is hard to engage a public audience, but the success of RedBall is refreshing and motivating.

Augmented Reality GIF Art by Re+Public

This falls under the category of intervention. By replacing ads with artwork and animated GIFs, commuters
get to see something different and unique. They experience digital art in the last place they'd expect it to be.
It also allows people to think not just about the artwork but in context with its setting and how it is displayed.
Getting people to think about art, how it's made, and its location is always a plus.

Learn How to Fly Over a Very Large Larry by Daniel Bozhkov

No explanation needed. Just look at it.

Past Project

Funeral for Laren Uf at NYU Open Studios Fall 2010

This was a class project for NYU Open Studios. We decided to have a funeral for a made up person, complete with
caskets, candlelabras, a eulogy, and of course, a dinner meal.
